About Jim Martin

This blog “A Place for the God-Hungry” is where I share thoughts about life, ministry, marriage, parenting, leadership and ministry. I have been writing this blog since 2004. More than anything, I want this to be an encouraging place.

I serve as Vice President of Harding School of Theology (January 2014) in Memphis, Tennessee.

Early Years

I was raised in Dallas, Texas. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in Business Management. Later, I studied at Heritage Christian University (Formerly International Bible College) for two years, Abilene Christian University (M.Div.), and Harding School of Theology (D.Min.).

Ministry Background

For 36 years, I preached primarily for three congregations: College Church of Christ, Florence, Alabama (1982-1990); Gladstone Church of Christ, Kansas City, Missouri (1990-1993); and Crestview Church of Christ, Waco, Texas (1993-2013).

I am a Mentoring Partner for Hope Network Ministries and regularly lead mentoring groups.

  2. Brother Martin,
I’m so glad I found you on the internet, because I was trying to find your address to write you.
I’m Ross Alphin a member of Christ Church in Millington Tenn. I thank God you are one of us (a servant of God) he is truly working through you and it is such a blessing to be a witness of his work in you. I truly love the days when you teach at Millington. I can barely stay in my seat. I’ve wanted for so long to express this, but my duties require me to be absent after Church and can’t socialize. I thanked God today for the message today so eloquently delivered. Thank you and may God bless you in every step of your journey here. Thank you for your devotion to God; it truly helps me in mine.
